Laura Turek has worked in both documentary and fiction. Her recent television credits include; Mars Rising, a multi-million dollar behind-the-scenes look at the technologies and science that will transport the first humans to Mars for Discovery Canada; Buy Me, a lifestyle series for HGTV about the high stakes and stresses of buying and selling homes; Out in the City a docu-soap series for Life Network and Pride Vision and Les Wizz du Showbizz a series profiling the people who make the stars shine for MusiMax. Laura is currently in development on Drift Soldiers.

Cherry Fruitbread, her first fiction short, won the Audience Choice Award for the Best Canadian Short Film at the Montreal World Film Festival in 2003. My Friend Ana, her second short, was an official selection at INPUT 2007. Man of the Family, her latest film won Best Drama – Short Film at the 2008 Southern Appalachian International Film Festival. Laura is currently working on Queen City, her first feature length film.

Tamara Lynch began her producing career in 1986 at the National Film Board. Her more than 60 producer credits encompass a wide range of genre: documentary, animation, drama and multimedia. Her credits include In The Shadow of Gold Mountain, recounting stories from the last Chinese Head Tax survivors, The Girl Who Hated Books, an animated children’s story, and I Can Make Art, a unique documentary series for children about Canadian visual artists. She also produced Show Girls, celebrating Montreal’s Black jazz scene; A Mind Of Your Own, helping kids with learning disabilities; Apples & Oranges, raising awareness about homophobia and XS Stress allowing teens to talk about how they tackle stress. Leaving the NFB in 2006, her most recent production, Gambling Boys, a TV documentary that looks into the world of teen gambling is co-produced with Sally Bochner and produced by EyeSteelFilm in association with CBC.

During her career at the National Film Board of Canada, Sally Bochner worked first as a producer, then as Executive Producer in Montreal and is credited with over sixty films.

Her productions cover a range of genres: dramatic features, feature documentaries, and numerous productions for youth, including the thirteen-part series My Brand New Life, a co-production with La Fete and the NFB, which attracted record ratings on YTV/Discovery Kids and TVO/TFO; the six-part series I Can Make Art; The Girl Who Hated Books, one of the acclaimed Tale Spinners series from the NFB; XStress, a short documentary looking at the pressures on today’s high school students: and the teen feature, The Point, co-produced with Silo Films.

Her work has garnered significant public and critical recognition in Canada and abroad and has screened at festivals around the world – Berlin, Cannes, Toronto, Sundance, Chicago, Venice, and Human Rights Watch in New York. Highlights include the ground-breaking alternative drama, Train of Dreams, which she co-wrote and associate-produced with Canadian director, John N. Smith; Company of Strangers, which received countless awards, and attracted movie –goers in Canada, the United States, Asia and Europe, and was aired on PBS’s Masterpiece Theater; Atanarjuat, an Igloolik Isuma/National Film Board of Canada co-production, winner of the prestigious Camera d’Or award at Cannes; the feature documentary, No More Tears Sister, which aired on PBS’s POV and was screened at human rights festivals around the world; Discordia and Bombay Calling, both directed by Samir Mahal and Ben Adelman; and Karen Cho’s, Beyond Gold Mountain, award-winning film looking at the impact of the Chinese head tax.

In July 2006, she left the National Film Board. Bochner’s most recent work, Gambling Boys, co-produced with Tamara Lynch, is one-hour documentary on teens and gambling, produced by EyeSteelFilm in association with CBC.
